Pope Francis hopes that Catholics will make a pilgrimage to a Holy Door during this jubilee year. Because not everyone can go to Rome, Pope Francis has asked all the Bishops in the world to designate certain Churches in their Diocese to have a Holy Door through which God’s people can enter and receive special graces and blessings.
Saint Joseph Church in Fitchburg is one of these Churches. This is why the parishes in our Deanery (Fitchburg, Leominster, Lunenburg) are sponsoring “24 Hours for The Lord” in Saint Joseph Church.
This open door is meant to be a Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons and instills hope. The Holy Door at Saint Joseph’s represents a new opening for God’s mercy to every heart. Each Christian is called to seek and receive God’s mercy and convey it to others with words and deeds.
Join us this Friday/Saturday for prayer and adoration. Spend some quiet time in prayer, join in the prayers being offered together and celebrate the Sacrament of God’s great mercy during these “24 Hours for The Lord.”
A different priest from each parish will be available throughout the 24 hours to hear confessions.
For those afraid of coming out during the night hours there will be a policeman on duty outside of Saint Joseph’s throughout the night.
