These questions and Father Ken's homily are in connection with the last third of the book 'Beautiful Eucharist', pages 67-106.
1. In Fr. Eric Boelsher’s essay 'The Ultimate Proof of God’s Love', he talks about acts of sacrifice as proof of love. We all hear the Mass referred to as "The Holy Sacrifice". What is your understanding of the Mass as a sacrifice?
2. On page 71, Fr. Boelsher writes, "There has not been a single meaningful relationship in human history that was not marked by some gift of sacrifice, one person to another". Have you examples in your own life of someone showing you love by making a sacrifice?
3. In Matt Warner’s essay ‘Why Didn’t Anybody Tell Me This?’, he talks about his excitement at discovering the truth about the Catholic faith in general, and about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist in particular. He also talks about his frustration and disappointment that he could not share this excitement with more people. Have we experienced something similar? Why is it so difficult to share faith with some people? How can we share the faith more effectively?
Know that you do not need to participate in all the sessions. In fact, if you can’t make any, you can still do something on your own because you will have access to all the resources we will use.
